What is MFA?

All students, faculty, and staff are now required to use MFA (Multifactor authentication) when accessing many campus resources.

Multi-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security for university accounts that makes it difficult for bad actors to access services, applications, and data.

Multi-factor combines something you know (UARK email and password) with something you have (a trusted device, like a phone).

You may see an MFA challenge when connecting to our library resources.

MFA request for more information

You can respond to an MFA request on your phone, by responding to a text message, phone call, or through the Microsoft Authenticator App. The Authenticator App is the most secure method.

December 2022 Update: Two-Digit Number Now Required

Beginning December 19, 2002, the Microsoft Authenticator App requires entry of a 2-digit verification code. The Authenticator app previously sent an "approve" message to a mobile device, which could be tapped to verify.

MFA verification numbers

This change affects those who use the Authenticator App and not those receiving text messages or phone calls.
